As part of his community service programme, Hon. Onawo instituted and sponsored a schools’ debate project for all Secondary Schools in the State for four years. That this venture would go a long way to revolutionized the communication skills of students and indeed in general, enhance the development of education in the State cannot be overemphasized.As a Philanthropist, Hon. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo has touched the lives of many people and organization. In his unalloyed determination to better the lives of people, he has donated so far many motorcycles to individuals for various humane purposes.
That is not all. In the same crusade, Hon. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo has played a good role in reducing the labour crisis that many people fall victims. For example, he provided employment to 28 people, mostly youth and women and posted them to various government departments. What is special in this case is that, he alone paid their salaries.
In addition, quite a number of students are enjoying scholarship at different levels starting from the very foundation of education, the primary school to tertiary institutions, apart from the classrooms and a doctor’s quarter built by the Honorable to alleviate accommodation problems of medical Doctor’s in his constituency. Since 2003 when he was first elected, at least 500 students benefit from the JAMB/WAEC/NECO forms he buys for those that are unable to secure one for themselves. This is in addition to the hundreds he has helped to secure admission for.
He has been personally responsible for the medical treatment of thousands of people in his constituency through his collaboration with Sandaji Hospital Lafia and Eggon Medical Forum under the Leadership of Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu. He recently embarked on a Medical Mission where he partnered with Ntwatwa Global Services, (a non Governmental Organization) from Houston Texas U.S.A. and Eggon Medical Forum to provide Medical services to people of his constituency, where hundreds of patients were operated for different surgical problems or treated for major and minor ailments.
He has also provided portable drinking water through the provision of boreholes and wells in his constituency.
1n 2009, he provided succor to the women and youths of his constituency, when he helped 311 of them to acquire different skills that would help them sustain their lives. He also provided them with over N3, 110,000.00 as take–off grants.
Many men and women were also sponsored to Mecca and Jerusalem for pilgrimage since he was elected into office in 2003 to date and many more are on the waiting list.
